Obituary of John J. Gruber, Jr.

John J. Gruber, Jr., of Deptford, New Jersey, entered into Heaven on Friday, May 14, 2021. He was 66.

Legacy
Born in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia to John and Elizabeth Gruber, John was a parishioner of Holy Name Parish.  John attended North Catholic High School, class of 1973.  He also attended Pierce College, LaSalle University, and the Wharton School of Business before starting his career in communications with multiple insurance companies.  He was employed at Wang Laboratories, IBM and retired as a Project Manager at AT&T.  

He will be remembered for his love of good conversation, for his ability to impart honest, yet tactful advice, and for his very dry sense of humor. He enjoyed playing poker, golfing at many different and challenging courses across the country, and watching his beloved Phillies, and Eagles play. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.

Family
Devoted and loving son of the late John and Elizabeth (Dolan) Gruber, John is survived by the love of his wife, Mary Susan (Franzone) Gruber, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. Dearest brother to Patricia Waters, the late Mary Wnek and her surviving husband Matthew, the late Eileen Gruber, and Thomas Gruber and his wife, Diane. Fun uncle to Theresa Waters, Joseph Waters, Matthew Wnek, Jr. (Brenda), Daniel Wnek (Shannon), Ryan Gruber (Rachael), Erik Gruber, and the late Christopher Waters; loving grand uncle to Tyler, Christopher, Caitlyn, Madison, Hailee, Joseph, Julian and Logan; cherished son in law to the late Joseph and Alice Franzone; treasured cousin to the late Joseph McCartney; Best Daddy ever to his dogs Abigail and Serena. John is also survived by extended family and many friends.  

Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation at 8:00AM on Friday, May 21, 2021 in the McGuinness Funeral Home 573 Egg Harbor Road, (Washington Twp.) Sewell, NJ 08080 856-582-3800.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM in Infant Jesus Parish at St Margaret’s R.C. Church 3rd & Beech Street, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097.  Interment New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
