Michael Schreiner

Obituary of Michael E Schreiner

Michael E. Schreiner……beloved husband, father and best friend.

Legacy

The world was changed for the better when he was born on August 17, 1946 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Growing up Michael’s love for sports, learning and summers at the swim club helped prepare him for a lifetime in educational leadership, changing the lives of the many students he taught and mentored.

After his family moved to New Jersey when he was in high school, Michael went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Glassboro State College, a Masters degree from Trenton State College and a Doctorate in Education from Temple University. For more than 47 years, Michael worked in the field of education as a teacher, coach, Assistant Principal, Principal and Superintendent of Schools for various South Jersey communities. In addition, Michael instructed and supervised graduate school programs for both Georgian Court and Seton Hall University. For more than five years, Michael headed a team of educators who trained all of the D.A.R.E. police officers in New Jersey. In addition, Michael has provided services as a consultant for Educational Testing Services, KDNSF School Security and the New Jersey Department of Education. His legacy in the New Jersey educational field is one that will not soon be forgotten.

In 1980, Michael married his best friend and “partner” Pamela. They have been married for 40 years anchored on the motto that laughter is the best medicine. They welcomed their daughter Sara in 1986 and she quickly became the center of Mike’s world. There is no stronger bond than that of Michael and Sara, truly cut from the same cloth. His unconditional love, guidance, humor and wisdom has shaped Sara into the woman she is today. Michael is her hero and she is the true love of his life.

In retirement, Michael spent his days on the golf course, playing poker and serving as the President and CEO of Mainstage Center for the Arts. He is known by many as the “social director” of the group and has a smile and presence that lights up any room he enters.

As Michael always told us, “God didn’t promise a smooth journey, but he does guarantee a safe landing.” While far too soon, Michael (74) got his “safe landing” and passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021 with his wife Pamela and daughter Sara by his side. How fitting for him to pass away on Sara’s birthday, the best day of his life.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Alma Schreiner.

Family

Michael is survived by his wife Pamela; his daughter Sara (Joshua); his sister Kay (Terry) Snyder; his niece Jodi (Mike) Johnston, his nephew Terry Jr. Snyder; his sweet golden retriever Abby and a vast group of friends that became family.

Known to many as Doc, plank, Uncle Mike and Pop his legacy to all who knew him will be remembered as a man of faith, wisdom, unconditional love and bringing happiness to all those he encountered.

In your words Dad, “Forever is ours and this life we have is ridiculous!”

Until we meet again in heaven, we will love you, we will miss you and we will honor you every day of our lives…always and forever. The show must go on. We love you Pop.
