ALY, Osman M., of West Deptford and Medford, New Jersey at the age of 88 on February 4, 2021

Legacy

Osman Aly, PhD, 88, of West Deptford, New Jersey, Deerfield Beach, Florida, and The Woodlands, TX, scientist, world traveler, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 4, 2021. Osman was born in Cairo, Egypt, and emigrated to the United States with Aida, his wife, to pursue a doctoral degree in Environmental Science at Rutgers University. After earning his degree, he went on to teach and hold research positions at the university.

Osman then joined the Campbell Soup Company in Camden and advanced to the position of Director of Environmental Affairs while directing the company’s worldwide environmental policies and programs and serving as its spokesperson on environmental matters. He was a recognized expert in water treatment and is responsible for the construction of treatment systems worldwide. He is also the author of more than 50 publications in environmental science and co-author of four textbooks on state-of-the-art drinking water systems.

Osman was a strong, devoted, and loving father, husband, and friend, who enjoyed an active and healthy lifestyle and was known for always being upbeat and positive. He loved to travel and did so extensively in retirement. France and Italy were his favorite destinations, and he also enjoyed visiting the world’s natural wonders and US National Parks. Osman enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, and teaching his grandsons to create Egyptian dishes. 

Family

Osman was preceded in death by Aida Kamel Aly, his beloved wife of 51 years. He is survived by his beloved children and their spouses, Maggy A. May and Robert May, Sherine O. Aly and Phillip D. Kunz, and Sherif O. Aly and Brenda Aly; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Kunz and Alexander Kunz. He is the dear brother of many family members who reside in Egypt.

Burial Service

A private burial will be held at Eglington Cemetery, 320 Kings Highway, Clarksboro, NJ.  Arrangements by McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME
