Obituary of Joseph P. Orlando

Joseph P. Orlando, 74, of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Legacy

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Joe was a resident of Woodbury since 1972. He was a member of Teamsters Local 463 and worked as a tractor trailer driver for ACME Markets and later Interstate Baking Company (Wonder Bread) for 42 years. Joe was a man who truly loved his job and had many wonderful memories from work. He served as a shop steward for many years and was well-respected by both the drivers and bosses for his honesty, integrity, and hard work.

Joe was strong-willed, loving, funny, and a true gentleman. He was devoted to “his girls,” which included his wife, daughters and granddaughters. They were all the apple of his eye, and they considered him their super hero, protector, and their shoulder to cry on. “Poppy” was simply the best. Joe loved to be around his family and friends, and he made friends wherever he went. He was the world’s best storyteller and could captivate an audience with his wit and jokes. A favorite pastime of Joe’s was grocery shopping with his girls at ACME and Shop Rite so he could find all the deals from the circulars. Joe was a very patriotic man who loved his country dearly and enjoyed both local and national politics. He was a devoted fan of Sinatra and a movie connoisseur. He especially enjoyed the classics, cowboy movies, and scary movies that he loved to watch with his girls. But Poppy’s absolute favorite thing to do was sit by the lake with his best fishing buddy, his granddaughter, Gianna.

Family

Beloved Husband of 53 years to Alberta R. (nee Masucci); devoted father of Jo Ann Orlando (David Tierno) and Angela Mendez (Antonio); loving grandfather of Gianna, Adria and Gina; dear brother of Dominic Spano (Tina). Joe is also survived by his furry pal, Curly.
