Joseph M. Ott, Jr., of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away at home on Friday, October 30, 2020. He was 80.

Born and raised in Paulsboro, NJ, Joseph is a lifelong resident of New Jersey. After graduating from high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served proudly until Honorable discharge in 1963. An avid boater from childhood, Joe enjoyed zipping around New York City in his cherished 30-foot patrol boat. While on duty he fought waterside fires, enforced maritime law, performed search-and-rescue, and rode out one hurricane. Joe worked for the former Sunoco Refinery in South Philadelphia for 50 years. He was a dedicated employee and grew during his time spent there from beginning in the mail room to his final position before retiring as a machinist.

Joe was a family man and loved being a father and a grandfather. He loved spending time with his wife, riding bikes, traveling, reading, woodworking, and watching the birds feed at his backyard feeders. Joe was very patient with others and was extremely intelligent. He could build and fix almost anything. He loved his family and set a positive example for all.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph M. Sr. and Eva Ott, he is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Patricia (nee Carbone) Ott. Joe is the devoted father of Lisa A. Wentzel (Steven), Michael T. Ott (Donna), and Patrick W. Ott; dear brother of Carolynn Williams (the late Vincent) and Thomas Ott (Andrea); loving grandfather to Brandon, Travis, Thomasina, Gabriel, Amber, Nichole, Elizabeth and Kimberly and cherished great grandfather to 7.
