Rosemary Salmon

Obituary of Rosemary Salmon

Rosemary (nee Trimarco) Salmon passed away at her home on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 87, surrounded by loved ones. In the weeks leading up to her passing, Rosemary knew the end was near and faced it with the same courage and dignity with which she lived her entire life.

Legacy

Rosemary was born (June 6, 1933) and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1951, and St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.  She moved to Woodbury, New Jersey in 1958 where she raised her family while continuing to pursue her career in nursing.  After her children were grown, Rosemary returned to college to earn her B.S., and had the unique pleasure of joining her daughter Suzanne in Glassboro State College’s (now Rowan University) class of 1982.

Despite the demands of her career, Rosemary’s priority was her family, and she was fully engaged in the lives of her children, attending their many sporting events, choir concerts, rock ‘n roll performances and any and all family functions.  A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rosemary stressed the importance of family, the value of traditions and the small things that maintain the bonds of family over many years and across many miles.  In her later years, she would not let a birthday pass without sending one of her homemade/computer-generated cards that always ended with the family’s traditional “glad you were born.”

Following her retirement from nursing, Rosemary authored several books with her late husband, William A. “Bill” Salmon, Sr.  Upon Bill’s death in 1999, she moved to Lakebridge Retirement Community in Deptford, New Jersey, where she involved herself in many community activities and formed many treasured friendships.

Family

Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William A., Sr., and is survived by her children Rosemary Stasak (David), Suzanne Horan (John), Christine Treusch (Tom), William Jr. (Susan), and Andrew (Christine).  “G’ma” also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, Corey, Ali, Taylor (Christian), Morgan (Wes), Colin, Hunter, Andrew, Elizabeth, Marti, Julia, Owen, Bryn, and Ava, and great-grandchildren, Jesse, Thomas, Tessa, Boone, Brooks, Rowan Marie and Nash.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to The William A.  and Rosemary T. Salmon Scholarship Fund for Creative Writing at Woodbury High School, Woodbury Board of Education Business Office, 25 N. Broad Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
