Obituary of Joseph N Avallone, Sr.

 Joseph N. Avallone, Sr. died peacefully in his sleep on 9/5/2020 in Thorofare, NJ.

Legacy: 
The youngest of 4 children, Joe was born at home on Oct. 26, 1929 Jamaica, Queens, New York.  During the Korean War, he served as a Sergeant in the USMC. He attended St. Francis College, and received a Masters Degree in Protozoology from New York University.  He married Louise (Cassella) in 1956 and together they started a life and family in Woodbury, NJ. As a provider for his family, he worked as a regional sales manager for American Home Products for over 40 years. 
A devout Catholic and a long time member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and later Infant Jesus Parish, Joe dedicated his time in service to God and others.  His many involvements included the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), The St. Vincent DePaul Society, The Kiwanis club, The Sierra Club and various roles on church councils.
Joe loved a bowl of pasta, a fine glass of wine, and breaking bread with others at the kitchen table.   His favorite moments were times spent with his wife of 64 years and his grandchildren. His hobbies included cooking, singing, gardening, storytelling, and having parties. Joe will be remembered by many in his chef hat at spaghetti dinners for church fundraisers and Kiwanis’ celebrations.  He was a friend to all and loved by many.

Family.
Beloved wife of Louise Avallone (nee Cassella).  Devoted father of Joseph Jr. and wife Margaret, Donna McNamee and Edwin Huff, Paul and wife Karen and Kathleen O'Shea and husband Timothy.  Treasured Poppy of Nicholas. Maura and Husband Russell, Marisa and husband Alex, Elizabeth and husband Edward, Katie, Timothy Jr., Michael, Daniel and Madeline.  He will be missed by many friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, September 11, from 9:00Am to 11:00AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.  Funeral Mass at 12:00pm to follow in Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret's Church, 3rd & Beech Street, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097.  Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
