Obituary of James J. Dickson

James J. Dickson, Sr., died March 20, 2003, after a long illness. Born April 22, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA, he and his six siblings moved to National Park at the age of twelve after his father died. Jim's strong work ethic was motivated by his father's death. James gave 50 years of service as a journeyman / foreman for Sheet Metal Local #19. He was a Knights of Columbus and served as a sacristan to Saint Matthew's Church in his retirement. Family and Church were everything to Jim, he was a longstanding memmber of the Legion of Mary. Surviving is his wife of 65 years Vera nee Kelly, six children: Mary Jane Haley & husband Joseph of Thorofare; Veronica Sis Folwler, of Woodbury; James Dickson, Jr. and Donna, John Dickson and his companion Jessica, of Mount Ephraim; Agnes Dickson and companion Ana, of California; Edward Dickson and his wife Joyce of National Park; and 14 grandchildren, Joseph Haley, III, John Haley, James Haley, and Jennifer Carey, Ronnie Wohlforth, Agnes Epting, Raymond Fowler, Jr. James Dickson, III, Tara Dickson; Wendy Dickson, Carlene Dickson; Edward Dickson, Michael Dickson, Keith Dickson; and 15 great grand children. The Memorial Service & Viewing will be held at St. Matthew's Church in National Park, Sat. 9 AM, where rosary will be prayed by the Legion of Mary followed by a Requiem Mass at 10 AM.
