Obituary of Francis C. Barry

Francis C. ?Frank? Barry of Jupiter, FL, formerly of Woodbury, on June 14, 2003. Aged 95 years. Born in Philadelphia, PA., Mr. Barry had resided in National Park and Westville before building a home in Woodbury in 1950. He was a graduate of Camden Catholic High School. Mr. Barry was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving during WW II. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight. As a young man, Mr. Barry started playing piano at age 14 in numerous tap rooms in National Park, NJ. He also sold "snowballs". As a young man, Mr. Barry and his brother, Jim, started their business, Barry Brothers, in National Park. Beginning in the early 1940?s, Barry Brothers operated out of Westville at 300 Broadway for 35 years. Mr. Barry and his brother, Jim, also built an ice skating rink on Delsea Drive in Westville Grove. Upon retirement in 1975, Mr. Barry continued playing piano with the well-known Sentimental Gentlemen at numerous facilities throughout South Jersey. Mr. Barry, also, sang and played piano at O?Donnell?s Family Restaurant in Gloucester City for many years on St. Patrick?s Day. In his spare time, he was a Notre Dame fan and was active in the Barry Family Reunion each summer. Mr. Barry was active with St. Patrick's RC Church and Bishop Eustace High School. Beloved husband of 55 years of the late Helen M. Nee Bearry. Devoted father of Paul and his wife, Maryellen, of Jupiter, FL and Peggy Ellertsen and her husband, Bob, of Newton, MA. Loving grandfather of Mike, Tom, and Jeff Barry and Nora and Annie Ellertsen. He was predeceased by his father , Garrett Barry, and his mother, Nellie Nee Floody and his 8 brothers-Edward, John, Gerald, Charles, Thomas, Joseph, James, and baby Aloysius.
