Obituary of Alfred T. Sanderson

Alfred T. Sanderson, Esq. Of Elmer, N.J. on July 2, 2003. Aged 76 years. Al was born in Woodbury, NJ. He was graduated from Woodbury High School in l945. A year later, at the age of 19 Al joined the United States Army. He was stationed in Frankfurt a/Main, Germany serving with the 3118th Signal Service Battalion. At that time he administered the largest message center in Europe, DAAA. He was granted a Top Secret Code Clearance Distinction and his duties included carrying top secret messages from the editing room to the code room and then to see that they were properly transmitted. Al was graduated from Gettysburg College in 1950; and Temple Law School in 1953. He was admitted to the Bar on March 13, 1955 .He practiced criminal and civil law in Gloucester County for over 47 years. His daughter, Victoria S. Rand, Esq. practiced law along with Al for the last 15 years. He was one of the ten AV rated attorneys in Gloucester County out of a lawyerly population of over 440 attorneys. Al served as the solicitor for Mantua Township. In January 1987, Al wrote and published a book; Pull Over, you?re Drunk, which was written to make certain that the motorist put their best foot forward in an honest, candid fashion. He was the former County Chairman for the Gloucester County Democrat Party , and the Past President of the Gloucester County Bar Association from 1980 to 1981. Al was a longtime member of Woodbury Country Club. Beloved Husband of Mildred Tommie nee-Lewis. Devoted father of Christopher T. Sanderson & Victoria Sanderson-Rand, Grandfather of James Sanderson-Rand , Elizabeth Grainger Rand, Ian Bradford Rand. Brother of Katherine Worthington , Donald & Kenneth Sanderson.
