Obituary of James William Samuel

James W. Samuel, 51, of Westville, was called home on August 23, 2003 after a courageous battle with melanoma. Jim was a retired contract manager for the Dept. of Human Services, State of NJ where he was employed for 27 years. Prior to that, he worked in the business office at Gloucester. Co. College. He was a faithful member of the Westville United Methodist Church, where he was an active member of the Methodist Men and also served as treasurer for 10 years, youth group leader, and trustee. He loved model trains, airplanes, computers, and ?buying double?. He was a family man who enjoyed travel, the mountains, beautiful gardens, and especially visiting with his many friends and relatives. An enthusiastic fan at family sporting events, Jim had a generous and kind heart and did many good deeds anonymously. Beloved husband of Valerie nee White. Devoted father of Melissa DiNouva of Mullica Hill, Meredith McCall of Westville and son John L. Samuel, at home. Loving son of the late Frank S. and Dorothy Samuel. Dear brother of the late Frank Scott Samuel; also survived by brother David A. Samuel Brigitte of Brick, NJ and sister Lois Keaton Edward of Pilot, VA. Doting grandfather of Michael, Derrick and Tiffany. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and uncle William McQuillan, Jr. Sadly missed by lifelong friend Robert Dougherty, mother-in-law June White and in-laws Gary, Vicki Fred, Tracy Denny, and Gail Joe. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, at Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church, 19 South Broad St. Woodbury, NJ , where friends and relatives may call after 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to Crossing the Finish Line 1100 East Hector St. P.O. 304 Conshohocken, PA 19428 or John L.
