Obituary of Mary K. Curtis

Mary K. Curtis (nee VanHest), age 87, of Deptford, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Legacy Mary will be affectionately remembered as a funny, loving and caring woman with a big heart. She was known by her family as a shining star and would do anything for the ones that she loved. Mary was an avid Phillies fan, adored her dog, and cherished every moment with her family, especially her Christmas Eve traditions. She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Lindenwold and the Clayton Elks Club. Mary worked in the Evergreen Avenue Elementary School where she was known as "Miss. Mary". A kind and gentle soul among us, Mary will be missed deeply by those who knew her. Family Beloved wife for 58 years to Hughie, Sr.; devoted mother of Rosemary VanHest, Kathleen Viereck and her husband Michael and Hughie, Jr. and his wife Catharine; loving Nan of Danielle (Brian), Michelle, Hughie, III. (Tia), Kristen (Paul), and the late Michael, Jr., and great-grandmom to Hailey, Jules, Libby, Lilly, Autumn, Mikey, Lathan and Marley; dear sister of the late George, Frank and Robert; aunt of many nieces and nephews. Mary leaves behind her cherished furry companion, her dog Noelle. Farewell Ceremony Friends and relatives are invited to Mary's Viewing on Sunday from 2PM -4PM in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096; Burial Office Service to follow at 4PM; Interment private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to the Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, 62 Delaware Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
