Obituary of June Kay Smith

Mrs. June K. Smith, was born in Philadelphia, Pa, on June 2nd, 1932, to Ora and Samuel D. Brown. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and as an adult later became a member of 2nd Macedonia Baptist Ch. After High School, she attended and graduated with honors from Albert Einstein Medical Center, School of Nursing, and received a degree as a Registered Nurse from Temple University. She served in nursing for over 30 years, providing loving care to thousands of patients.

In 1954, she was married to Means E. Smith, Sr, and they maintained a loving marriage for almost 65 years. In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, their daughter, Cheryl D. Smith-James, son Means E. Smith, Jr, two grandsons CDR K.E. James, USN, LCDR C.E. James, USN, four great-grandchildren, her dear brother Roland Ryles, son-in-law CDR K.C. James, daughter-in-law Soraya Smith, grandaughter-in-law Julia James, and a host of family members. She was predeceased by her beloved siblings Samuel, Reginald, and Rosella.

Funeral is private at the request of the family.
