Lucas Thomas

Obituary of Lucas Richard Thomas

Lucas "Luke" Thomas age 30 of Westville NJ passed suddenly on February 1, 2019

Luke was a lifelong resident of Westville where he enjoyed the sport of baseball. He started at age 5 and continued all the way through Gateway Regional HS and other leagues after graduation. He could not get enough of the game.   He spoke frequently of playing the game at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown NY. This "southpaw" was an outstanding pitcher and after completing his little league career, he returned to coach little leaguers starting with the 10 year olds and staying with this group until they entered high school ball. He always worked well with and enjoyed teaching the younger kids the sport he loved.  He continued his little league involvement by umpiring the games.  Luke had the opportunity to go to a baseball game at the old Tiger Stadium in Detroit before it was torn down.   Luke was a Washington Redskins fan and really enjoyed going to the games with his dad.  He was really into college basketball following several teams never missing the final four.  He liked Bulldogs and really took care of his own Bulldog "Tyson".  Then he helped rescue another bulldog and named him "Bulldozer"  Dozer for short.  Luke loved matching clothing with his sneakers, everything had to perfect.  He enjoyed his time in Wildwood at his summer house.

Luke is the beloved son of Richard A. Thomas and Lynn Lucas; dear nephew of Rodney (Elsa) Thomas, Lee (Barry) Jenkins, Carolyn (Tom) Kitchens, Christine Lowery,  and the late William & Carl Thomas. Luke is also survived by many cousins and friends.
