Obituary of Edwin Raiczyk

Edwin R. Raiczyk Jr. (“Eddy”) of Wildwood, formerly of Louisiana and Camden, passed away on March 27, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He was 64.  A beloved son of Edwin Sr. and the late Anna Raiczyk.  Dear brother of the late Patricia Nicgorski (Jim), Kathryn, Stan (Terry), and Jeff.  A loving uncle to Kim Cali (Russell), Rheanna Poore (Jim), Richard Mecca (Holly), Christopher and devoted Godfather to Erik.  Eddy will also be missed by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Eddy, fondly known as “Edziu”, was born and raised in the Fairview section of Camden where he attended St. Joan of Arc Grammar School.  He later attended St. Joe’s High School in Camden, where he was a standout basketball star, graduating in 1972.  Eddy also attended Rutgers University in Camden.  Later in life he would move to Absecon, NJ where he pursued a career in the casino industry, in Atlantic City’s infancy, and worked for Harrah’s Casino for 25 years as dealer, floor person and pit boss.  Ed would later travel to Louisiana where he was employed by Pinnacle Entertainment at casinos in Lake Charles and Baton Rouge.

Above all, Eddy loved and was devoted to his family and friends which he loved to spend time with.  Also, a crab connoisseur, Ed would cook his famous crabs on many occasions to the delight of many.  Eddy was an avid and talented fisherman and boater who enjoyed spending days on the water with family and friends.  Eddy enjoyed Wildwood and the Jersey shore, growing “Jersey” tomatoes and Phillies baseball.
