Obituary of Ryan P. Dickerman

Ryan Dickerman LPC, 42, of Glassboro NJ, on Christmas Day 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was a licensed professional counselor who was most recently employed by The Guidance Center of Cumberland County in Millville. Prior to that he worked many years for Robin's Nest in Glassboro. He earned a BS Degree in Psychology from Old Dominion University and a Masters in Psychology from LaSalle University. Ryan's passion was the martial arts. He held a 5th Degree Black Belt in Goju Ryu Karate and also trained in Aikido and Kung Fu. He practiced the martial arts for over 30 years and taught at his own school in Vineland, NJ. He developed his own style of karate, Shin Shin Goju Ryu Aikido, that is a mix of martial arts. He received numerous honors over the years and in 2006 was inducted into the World Karate Hall of Fame in London, England. Ryan was also the Vice President of the Commodore Barry Division 1 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in National Park He is survived by his parents, Christopher and Jane Dickerman of Glassboro, his brothers Timothy (MaryLisa) of Rehoboth, De. and Justin (MaryKay) of Glassboro. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews including Timothy L., Julianna, Owen and Alex of Rehoboth and Gavin, Daniel and Makayla of Glassboro, as well as his devoted dog Shadow. Friends may call Friday evening at McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Rd, Sewell, NJ from 6 to 9 pm, and again at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Glassboro from 9:30 to 10:45 AM Saturday. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 am. Interment New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
